Movie Review: Pillow Talk
Pillow Talk - 3/5 Stars
This film from long ago stars Rock Hudson and Dorothy Day. Their characters share a phone line (a party line) and they get off on the wrong foot. However, when Hudson’s character sees Day’s character and recognizes the name, then he disguises his voice in an attempt to take advantage of her. Well, they end up falling in love of course, until she finds out his true identity. As one can imagine, she’s very much hurt, and so Hudson has to find a way to win her back. Maybe the funniest part of the movie is what she does to his apartment in order to get revenge. Hudson hires her to redecorate hoping to get her to talk to him. Well, she redecorates alright. A stray cat follows them in, and the cat’s reaction is priceless - a shriek, a look of disgust, and a quick exit. Of course, as with most movies following this really typical plot line, there’s always a third man involved to complete the triangle. It’s not a very deep movie, just a very enjoyable romantic comedy, that I reccomend for anyone wasting a Saturday night at home alone or with someone special - especially if you like classical movies.
